About Us
Jon Harrington
was born and grew up in the foothills of the Green Mountains
in upstate New York. He has worked in, with and around beautiful
wood all his life. He and his wife Susan have three grown
children. He built toys for his children when they
were small and furniture and decorative objects for their
home. He carved small objects, animals and inspirational
plaques and he turned items for household use.
Jon is a member
of American Association of Woodturners and the Lehigh Valley
(PA) Woodturners.
Jon and Susan operate
Harrington Hill Creations, where he now creates
original functional and decorative wood art. Their business
is located in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Their studio is
open by appointment; please call or email for an appointment.
Wood
Wood is a generously renewable resource we take for granted.
Trees are giving - always there, standing all around us, often
unnoticed, waiting to be used - a source of comfort and security.
A tree gives in all stages of its life. The seeds or fruit nourish.
Growing and mature trees clean the air, providing oxygen without
which we cannot live. A tree's shade cools and shelters us, offering
us boundaries and privacy. Many, such as maple, fruit and nut, give
us sustenance. Lumber protects, shelters, and warms us.
One way in which we honor the existence of these friends and
benefactors is to create
from them. The patterns and grain lines within each piece of wood
are unique and beautiful.
My purpose is to bring out what's already there so people can
see and appreciate it. Each piece has a story. Someone enjoyed its
presence in its giving life. Each are created as remembrances
of a tree that was a part of our life.
